Marttiini's knife presented by my father friend Marti

My treasure modern outdoor gear is a Marttiini knife that my Finnish friend Marti gave me as a Christmas gift from Yllas in Lapland 12 years ago.

I spent two weeks each in Jyväskylä, Finland, where Marti lives, twice in 1993 and 2004. I kayaked every day, went into the sauna, and went on a short trip hike to Lapland. He borrowed his knife at that time, and he gave me a knife as a gift. The blade also has my name stamped on it, and the catalog that came with it says, "This is it! Was marked.

The photo shows Marti preparing to set fire by splitting firewood with a hatchet in the rest area of Lapland and making countless cuts with a knife. A fixed blade knife holster hangs from his waist, and he gave me a gift from the same series. There were firewood and an ax at the break, and I made a hangnail on the broken firewood with a knife and set it on fire. In Lapland, visitors are free to use firewood and axes at their own risk. For that purpose, he is taught what it means to use a knife in the woods to make a fire and what obligations and responsibilities it entails.

The included catalog says, "This is it! Was marked. There is also a picture of a child making a hangnail on bonfire firewood using a knife.

Japanese people, including myself, are familiar with the "Swiss Army knife for traveling" when knives. There are dangers associated with sword knives, but I think it is also crucial for adults to teach children "the convenience and danger" as in Finland. It's a waste to end this knife for me! So am I retired? When I do, I want to teach my daughter how to use a knife and inherit it.
